Honor Roll Students and Our Holiday Concert

Kiwanis Club Donation
The past president of the Cape May City Kiwanis Club, Jack Wichterman, and Victoria Zelenak, Superintendent of Cape May City Elementary School. The Kiwanis Club donated a check for $600 to the school's Education Foundation. These funds are used for various school and/or classroom projects throughout the year.

Field Trip to the Victorian Towers

Student / Teacher Basketball Game
During the basketball game, Coach Eppenbach went over the gameplan with his team of 4th, 5th and 6th grade students.
Students and teachers were fighting for the rebound in the second photo. The students ended up winning the nail-biting game 20-19.

H1N1 Vaccinations
Fourth graders, Erin McCoy, Jacob Wingate, Stephen Avvento, and Grace Melancon show their bravery and their stickers that they received after their H1N1 vaccinations administered on Monday, November 23rd at Cape May City Elementary School by the Cape May County Health Department. West Cape May Elementary School students came over to our school for their shots as well.

Pre-K Celebrating Thanksgiving
First, Ms. Angeline’s Pre-K class fingerpainted with chocolate pudding, and made turkeys out of gummy worms in preparation for and celebration of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Congratulations Kelly Serfass
Our very own 6th grader, Kelly Serfass, won the 2010 Beach Tag Design Contest. Kelly was presented a $100 Saving Certificate at the Cape May City Council Meeting by Mayor Ed Mahaney. Kelly’s artwork will appear on the beach tags for the 2010 season. Kelly participates in Focus Art, a program for exceptionally artistic students at the Cape May City Elementary School.

Cape May Elementary Geography Bee
Last Thursday, Cape May City Elementary held a Geography Bee. Students from grades four to six competed to see who would be crowned Geography Bee Champion. The fifth graders swept the top spots. Pictured are the final three contestants. In the photo on the left, are fifth graders, Nauttikka Genz, Mishell Sanchez, and Josh Garza. In photo on the right, Josh Garza took third place, Nauttikka Genz took second place, and Mishell Sanchez was the champion.

Field Trip to Sturdy Bank
Last week, Cape May City Elementary School's fourth graders took a walking trip down to Sturdy Bank.
The students took a tour of the bank, learned how banks operate, and took time for a photo op with Cape May's Sturdy Bank Manager, Michael Clark.

Hats On Day at CMCE! Today, Cape May City Elementary School students wore hats of all kinds to raise money for and awareness of Pediatric Cancer. In two days CMCE raised more than $175 dollars for the Foundation for Children with Cancer. In the photo are sixth grade students Sarah McNeal, Jadyn Hall, Nicholas Pascucci, Hana Feulner and Michael DiCave wearing some interesting and different hats.

Cape May City Elementary Open House
New parent, Mrs. Patricia Powell, is enrolling her children, Isabella age 4, Preschool and Annmarie age 6, Kindergarten in the Cape May City Elementary School for the new school year.
New families are invited to the Welcome New Students Open House on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 between 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM where they will learn about the school and be able to tour the building and classrooms.
Some young students were taking fitness to a new level Thursday, all in the name of fun.
The bright sunshine provided a perfect background today for Cape May Elementary 4th annual triathlon.

Teacher / Staff Appreciation Week
For Teacher-Staff Appreciation Week at the Cape May City Elementary School, all staff members (photos of Robin Wise and Malieka Vasser getting hand massages) were offered chair massages from the Wellness Center of West Cape May and hand massages provided by Katerina, Manager of the Cape May Day Spa.
Staff members were also treated to a buffet breakfast and gift certificates provided by the Sturdy Bank of Cape May.
Lisa Aurrichio from Heavenly Hands is providing chair massages to staff members at Cape May City Elementary School for Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week.

Kiwanis Club Awards
Kiwanis Club members Claudia Monahan, Michael Monahan, President Dick Williams, and Al Beale present certificates and pens to Fifth Graders at the Cape May City Elementary School. All the 5th graders participated in an essay contest to win a gift certificate of $50 for themselves and one for their favorite charities. First Place Winner Dale Imrisik won a gift certificate for himself and one for the Make A Wish Foundation that grants wishes to terminally ill children. 2nd Place Winner Victoria Kugler’s (not pictured) favorite charity was Animal Outreach, and 3rd Place winner Naima Harris’s favorite charity was also Make A Wish Foundation. The essay contest is just one of many school activities sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Cape May City.
